I’ve noticed that clothing brands such as Missguided are on the ‘must do a review’ list for many fashion bloggers, and evidently, it’s on my list as well. What can I say, I’m easily influenced by other bloggers, and frankly, I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. And spoiler alert, it sort of is.
Firstly, let’s talk about the pricing of the clothing brand. Missguided has clothing (shoes and accessories as well) available and ranges from affordable to pricy, and I think that’s one of the reasons why so many people like this brand. There’s something for everyone no matter what your budget is. Also, if you’re a student you get extra discounts on the items (this varies depending on what country you’re from, I don’t think student discounts apply to all countries).
Now, I’m not sure if they ship from the UK or from Australia, but I found that the shipping was really quick. From memory, it took about one week for it to ship to my country and for it to be processed through customs, and then another few days for it to actually get delivered to me by the courier. So, let’s say it took about a week and a half for me to physically receive my items. For reference shipping for me was about $10 standard/ economy shipping, which is super cheap considering the currency difference and the fact that I’ve spent over $50 on shipping once.
I’m unaware of how good their customer service is since I didn’t end up returning anything. Also, I didn’t have any other issue with shipping or processing or anything like that. So, on their customer service I can’t give any comment about it. However, I did find that they processed my order within two days and on the third day it was shipped.
On to the items I bought. I bought only two things from the website, a black open back maxi dress and a lilac blazer. Now I checked the website a while after I bought the items (it’s been a few months now since I made my order) and found that neither of the clothing pieces is available on the website anymore. So, I’m assuming that either the items have sold out or they no longer sell those items anymore. Keeping that in mind, I guess if there is something you like on the website then perhaps buy it before it’s gone for good. (On that note, I believe that Missguided is a fast fashion brand, so I won’t be shopping from them again since I’m trying to avoid fast fashion brands).
So the black open back maxi dress. Since this is not available on the website anymore I can’t provide an image for the clothing piece I’ll try my best to describe it. The dress is black with a ‘V’ cut back. The cut out in the back doesn’t go all the way down to the hips, it stops about midway down your back. The sleeves are long and the dress flows all the way down to the grown and flares out at the back into a small train. I have nowhere to wear this dress too, so friends, if you’re reading this, let’s go to a fancy restaurant, yeah?
The story of why I bought this dress was because I saw a very similar dress at my local mall, however the one I saw was way out of my budget, so I went online and found this dress on Missguided. The dress was a bit expensive on Missguided however, I did get a student discount making everything way more reasonable.
The quality blew me away. The dress is very body hugging but not skin tight and fit me perfectly, and I noticed that it was double lined. So, yes, you can go braless and not worry about a thing. Also, since the cut out on the back exposes the back of a bra I don’t think you’re supposed to wear a bra, to begin with. So, I’m really glad that the designers thought this through and made sure the dress is thick enough and not flimsy or cheap at all. However, the regular price of the dress is a bit overpriced in my opinion, but if you compare it with the quality of the dress you are getting your money’s worth.
The second and final item I bought was a lilac blazer. If you know me then you’ll know I live and breathe blazers, they’re a staple for me, easy to dress up or down no matter the occasion. So when it comes to blazers, I personally don’t mind spending a bit more so I know I’m getting a decent item. The blazer is made to be a bit oversized and THE POCKETS ARE REAL! I’m not going to lie, but I panicked a little bit when I receive the blazer and found that the pockets were sewn shut, but luckily I realised that you could unstitch/cut open the pockets, so problem solved.
As I mentioned I had a student discount so the price of the blazer was super reasonable and the quality was really impressive as well. The blazer was also double lined on the inside and the pockets were a plus for me, so overall this was totally worth my money.
